Pakistan-Uzbekistan Friendship Highlighted During Visit to Babar Park, Tashkent Road

ISLAMABAD: May 9, 2026: Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Chief Commissioner of Islamabad, Sohail Ashraf along with the Ambassador of Uzbekistan, H.E Alisher Tukhtayev, visited the under-construction Babar Park on Faisal Avenue on Saturday. On this occasion, Member Environment Abdullah Khurram Niazi, Director Development and Finance Bushra Rao and other senior officers were also accompanying him. During the visit, a briefing was given regarding the design and construction progress of the under-construction Babar Park. It was informed that the construction work on Babar Park is being carried out under the supervision of Uzbek designers and experts, and eco-friendly plantation and landscaping will be done to beautify the park's environment. The briefing further said that high quality will be ensured in all aspects of the park's construction work. Uzbek Ambassador said that Babar Park would be counted among the best parks in Islamabad. He said that Babar Park is a special gift from the Uzbek government to the citizens of Islamabad. He further added that this project would become a symbol of lasting friendship, brotherhood and shared historical and cultural ties between the peoples of Uzbekistan and Pakistan. Chairman CDA Sohail Ashraf praised the design and layout plan of the Babar Park project. Expressing gratitude to the Uzbek government and the Uzbek Ambassador for their assistance in the design and construction of the park, Chairman CDA said that the CDA is ready to provide every kind of cooperation regarding the construction of Babar Park. He further said that relations between Pakistan and Uzbekistan are extremely deep and strong. Subsequently, the Chairman CDA along with the Uzbek Ambassador also visited Tashkent Road. During the briefing, it was informed that this road was named Tashkent Road in light of the historical and brotherly relations between Pakistan and Uzbekistan. Chairman CDA directed that work be carried out on the beautification of Tashkent Road, said that they desire collaborative beautification and upgrading works at various locations in Islamabad. On this occasion, the commitment to further strengthen city level cooperation between Pakistan and Uzbekistan and to work together for beautification and betterment was also reaffirmed.
