CDA and Rawalpindi Administration Advance Plans for Modern Slaughterhouse to Meet 60% Meat Demand of Twin Cities

ISLAMABAD: November 13, 2025: Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Muhammad Ali Randhawa, along with Commissioner Rawalpindi Engineer Aamir Khattak, jointly presided over a meeting of the Meat Board at the CDA Headquarters on Thursday. The meeting was attended by CDA Board Member Administration & Estate Talat Mehmood, Member Engineering Syed Nafasat Raza, Member Finance Tahir Naeem, Member Planning & Design Dr. Khalid Hafiz, members of the Meat Board, and other senior officials. During the meeting, a detailed briefing was given on the establishment of a modern and state-of-the-art slaughterhouse in Islamabad. Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa welcomed the Meat Board members and described the project as an important and long-awaited need of the twin cities. It was informed that the initial study for the slaughterhouse project has been completed, while operational and financial models have also been prepared. The project is expected to meet over 60% of the total meat demand of the twin cities. The meeting was further told that the master plan of the slaughterhouse includes a slaughter hall, service building, warehouse, lairage, quarantine ward, water treatment plant, and other essential facilities. The facility will incorporate modern animal slaughtering processes, equipped with complete chilling and cold storage systems. Speaking on the occasion, Commissioner Rawalpindi Engineer Aamir Khattak said that all relevant stakeholders from both cities should be taken on board for the project. He stressed the need for devising a special monitoring mechanism to ensure timely and effective implementation. Chairman CDA emphasized that the primary objective of the slaughterhouse project is to ensure the supply of high-quality, standardized, and hygienic meat in accordance with health and safety principles. He added that the facility will not only cater to the needs of the twin cities but will also support meat exports abroad, contributing to economic growth.
