Chairman CDA Reviews Progress on Mega Development Projects Ahead of Upcoming SCO Summit

ISLAMABAD: November 8, 2025: An important meeting was held at the Capital Development Authority (CDA) Headquarters under the chairmanship of Chairman CDA and Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Muhammad Ali Randhawa, to review progress on various mega development projects being undertaken in preparation for the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit. The meeting was attended by CDA Board Members, including Member Administration Talat Mahmood, Member Finance Tahir Naeem, Member Engineering Syed Nafasat Raza, Member Planning and Design Dr. Khalid Hafiz, Member Environment Esfandyar Baloch, along with other relevant officers. A detailed briefing was given on the ongoing and future development projects planned to improve the city’s infrastructure and ensure world-class arrangements for the SCO Summit and other international conferences in Islamabad. The meeting was informed that the Request for Proposal (RFP) for various mega projects is in its final stages. It was further apprised that in the first phase, the services of nationally and internationally renowned consultants will be engaged. Work is also in progress on the preparation of PC-1 and PC-2, as well as the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) for these projects. Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa stated that, in line with the vision of the Prime Minister of Pakistan and the Federal Minister for Interior, these mega projects are aimed at transforming Islamabad into a world-class modern city. He emphasized that the completion of these projects must be ensured ahead of the upcoming SCO Summit and other international events. The Chairman further noted that these projects are of strategic importance for enhancing Islamabad’s capacity to host high-profile international meetings and summits. Along with the beautification and urban development of the city, special focus is being placed on improving its infrastructure and hospitality standards to meet international benchmarks. Chairman CDA directed that a fully transparent and competitive process be ensured in all project phases, with no compromise on quality standards. He also instructed that work on PC-1 preparation and tendering be expedited to enable the formal commencement of these projects early next year. He reiterated that the completion of these mega projects will transform Islamabad into a vibrant hub of international and national events, tourism, and diplomatic activities, making it a model capital city at par with global standards.
