CDA Intensifies Dengue Prevention & Vector Control Operations Across Islamabad

ISLAMABAD, September 9, 2026: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has intensified comprehensive dengue prevention and vector control operations across Islamabad to prevent dengue transmission and protect precious human lives. By the Grace of Allah Almighty, the dengue situation in Islamabad remains under control as of September 9, 2026 (Epidemiological Week 37). Approximately 300 field personnel are actively engaged in intensive vector control operations across urban Islamabad, while more than 600 personnel are working in rural areas. The teams are conducting extensive surveillance, identifying breeding sites and undertaking immediate source reduction measures. In urban Islamabad, approximately 1,240,440 surveillance activities have been conducted, with 582,680 houses and 4,006,378 indoor containers checked. A total of 142,379 larvae were removed from indoor containers, while 40,054 breeding sites were identified within municipal limits. Overall, 142,379 larvae were detected and removed in urban areas and 66,758 in rural areas. Breeding sites identified at residential premises, commercial areas and established hotspots are being eliminated through mechanical source reduction and appropriate larval control measures. CDA teams are maintaining continuous surveillance and monitoring of high risk areas, with particular focus on stagnant water, residential premises, commercial areas, vacant plots and other potential mosquito breeding sites. CDA has also urged citizens to cooperate with field teams and eliminate stagnant water from homes, rooftops, gardens, plant pots, containers and surrounding areas. Public cooperation is essential to ensuring effective and sustainable dengue prevention. CDA will continue intensive surveillance and preventive operations throughout the high risk season to ensure early detection, elimination of breeding sites and maximum protection of citizens. Citizens have appreciated CDA's proactive and sustained efforts for dengue prevention and vector control across Islamabad, particularly the continuous field surveillance, identification and elimination of mosquito breeding sites, and preventive measures being undertaken to protect public health.
