ISLAMABAD: January 24, 2026: An important meeting regarding preparations for the holy month of Ramadan in the Federal Capital Islamabad was held under the chairmanship of Chief Commissioner Islamabad and Chairman CDA, Muhammad Ali Randhawa. The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Irfan Nawaz Memon, Chief Officer MCI Dr. Anam Fatima, along with senior officers from the district administration and CDA. The meeting reviewed the preparations for Ramadan, including the arrangements of Ramadan bazaars and ensuring the supply of food items at official rates. Chief Commissioner Islamabad and Chairman CDA, Muhammad Ali Randhawa, directed that the best arrangements be made for Ramadan bazaars and that the quality and availability of goods at official rates be ensured. During the briefing, the concerned officers informed that during the holy month of Ramadan, approximately 7 Ramadan bazaars will be organized at various locations across the city, and 3 weekly bazaars in Islamabad will also be converted into Ramadan bazaars. During the briefing, it was apprised that in addition, Ramadan bazaars will also be established at locations including Bahara Kahu, Pakistan Town Islamabad Express Way and Tarnol. Briefing the meeting, it was informed that the purpose of these measures is to ensure the provision of affordable and quality food items to citizens at low rates. It was further briefed that in the Ramadan bazaars, cash-and-carry stalls and stalls of various companies will be set up, and a 'Chand Bazaar' will also be organized in the last ten days of Ramadan in connection with Eid-ul-Fitr. Chief Commissioner Islamabad directed that all Ramadan bazaars be made cashless so that citizens can avail the best digital payment facilities easily. He also directed special attention to be given to the beautification and cleanliness of the Ramadan bazaars. Chief Commissioner Islamabad directed the concerned Assistant Commissioners and Magistrates to visit the Ramadan bazaars and markets. He instructed that construction and repair work in the Ramadan bazaars be completed before the start of Ramadan. Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa said that specific stalls should also be allocated in Ramadan bazaars for the sale of organic items. He gave clear instructions that no compromise of any kind on the quality of food items will be tolerated during Ramadan. He said an effective and prompt complaint redressal system should be established to address the complaints of consumers visiting the Ramadan bazaars. Chairman CDA said that maintenance and security arrangements for all Auqaf mosques and Imam bargahs should also be completed. He said special lighting arrangements should be made to illuminate Faisal Mosque and other mosques during Ramadan. Chairman CDA said that during Ramadan, various healthy activities and sports should be organized for citizens in the sports grounds of Islamabad city. He further said that the purpose of all these measures is to ensure the provision of the best facilities for citizens during the holy month of Ramadan.
