ISLAMABAD: January 18, 2026: A comprehensive operation has been launched to rid the Federal Capital, Islamabad, of illegal advertisement boards and signboards. In line with the directions of Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Muhammad Ali Randhawa, a large-scale cleanliness and enforcement campaign is underway across the city against illegally placed advertisements, signboards, and wall chalking. The primary objective of the campaign is to transform Islamabad into a well-organized capital city while preserving its natural and scenic beauty. According to details, under this joint initiative of the Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) and CDA, illegal advertisements are being removed not only from the walls of commercial areas and markazs but also from residential localities. In addition, unauthorized signboards installed along roadsides and advertisement materials affixed to poles are being permanently removed. Chief Officer MCI, Dr. Anam Fatima, stated that legal proceedings have been initiated against individuals and groups involved in installing illegal advertisements. She said the process of registering FIRs is ongoing against those advertising without permission from the relevant authorities, so that strict action may be taken in accordance with the law. She further added that all trade unions and members of the business community are being taken into confidence during the operation and have highly appreciated this commendable initiative by the CDA. On the occasion, citizens of the Federal Capital expressed satisfaction over the operation, stating that it would not only enhance the city’s aesthetic appeal but also protect residents from unauthorized advertisements promoted by fraudulent and deceitful elements. The MCI administration has appealed to citizens of Islamabad to fully cooperate with the authorities and to promptly report any illegal advertisement boards or signboards to the relevant departments.
