CDA Chairman Reviews Shaheen Chowk Underpass; 80% Barrel Wall Work Completed

ISLAMABAD: November 16, 2025 : Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Muhammad Ali Randhawa, visited the Shaheen Chowk Underpass project along with Member Engineering Syed Nafasat Raza and other relevant officers. The Chairman reviewed the ongoing construction activities across various sections of the project. During the briefing, officials informed the Chairman that 80% of the barrel wall work of the Shaheen Chowk Underpass has been completed. They further reported that 60% of the wall work for Ramp One has also been finalized, while 100% of the barrel girder work stands completed. Chairman CDA was apprised that the earthwork and roadwork for the project are progressing at a rapid pace, and construction of Ramp Two walls is currently underway. He was further informed that construction activities are being carried out round-the-clock to ensure timely completion. Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa expressed satisfaction over the progress made so far and emphasized that top-quality construction standards must be maintained at all stages. He directed that the project be completed strictly according to its approved schedule and timelines. He also instructed that work on aesthetic landscaping, digital signboards, and LED lighting be undertaken to enhance the visual appeal of the underpass. Chairman Randhawa stated that the Shaheen Chowk Underpass will serve as a major milestone in addressing Islamabad’s traffic challenges. The project will provide signal-free travel for daily commuters and students from nearby educational institutions, significantly reducing congestion. He directed the Project Director and Resident Engineers to maintain strict monitoring and ensure the highest standards of quality throughout the construction process.
