CDA Accelerates Sector Upgradation, Orders Bicycle Tracks and Citywide Beautification

ISLAMABAD: 17 March, 2026: A meeting was held at CDA Headquarters regarding the rehabilitation and upgradation of residential sectors and commercial marakiz, as well as the provision of basic amenities, under the chairmanship of Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Muhammad Ali Randhawa. The meeting was attended by CDA Member Administration and Estate Talat Mehmood, Member Engineering Syed Nafasat Raza, Member Planning and Design Dr. Khalid Hafiz, Member Environment Esfandyar Baloch and other senior officers. During the meeting, the relevant officers briefed on matters related to the rehabilitation and upgradation of existing sectors. They informed that work is ongoing on the rehabilitation and improvement of residential sectors and commercial marakiz, including the repair and renovation of existing parking areas and footpaths. Similarly, the upgradation work of commercial and Class-III shopping centers in various sectors is in progress. The meeting was briefed that signboards, lane markings and the digital parking system in various sectors will be further improved. It was further informed that regular landscaping will also be carried out to beautify the sectors and commercial marakiz. Chairman CDA and Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Muhammad Ali Randhawa, directed that bicycle tracks be constructed on the existing footpaths in various areas of the Federal Capital, Islamabad. He said that pedestrian tracks should also be built in the major Marakiz of the Federal Capital, Islamabad. Chairman CDA and Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Muhammad Ali Randhawa, said that special attention should also be paid to the construction and repair of manholes and kerb stones, including the sewerage and drainage system in sectors and commercial marakiz. He said that the immediate removal of all types of illegal constructions and encroachments from all residential and commercial areas must be ensured. Chairman CDA and Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Muhammad Ali Randhawa, directed that special attention be paid to beautifying the entry points of the Federal Capital, Islamabad and to cleanliness across the city. He instructed that the timely completion of all works and high-quality standards be ensured at all costs. He said that the beautification of the Federal Capital, Islamabad, and the provision of modern amenities to its citizens are among the top priorities of the CDA. He further added that all resources will be utilized for the beautification, rehabilitation and improvement of sectors and commercial marakiz.
