ISLAMABAD: January 11, 2026: Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Chief Commissioner of Islamabad Muhammad Ali Randhawa has expressed profound grief and sorrow over the gas cylinder explosion incident in Sector G-7/2 of Islamabad and visited the accident site to review the details of the incident. Subsequently, Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa, accompanied by relevant officers, visited PIMS Hospital to inquire about the health of those injured in the explosion. He directed the hospital administration to provide the best possible medical facilities to the injured. According to details, a tragic gas cylinder explosion occurred in a house in Sector G-7/2 of the Federal Capital Islamabad at 7:24AM this morning. Official statistics indicate that this tragedy resulted in 8 fatalities and 11 injuries. Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa said that the rescue operation has been completed. He said the explosion occurred due to a gas leakage. Chairman CDA said that such incidents often occur during winter due to the careless use of gas cylinders. He assured that the affected families would be provided assistance and said that a transparent inquiry into the incident has been initiated. Upon receiving information about the incident, the Capital Emergency Service immediately launched an emergency operation and reached the accident site within just 5 minutes, allowing timely rescue and medical aid to begin for the victims. The Capital Emergency Services mobilized all its resources, deploying units for firefighting, rescue, and medical assistance. Forty-five fire, medical, and rescue personnel participated in the rescue operation, supported by 10 ambulances and one rescue vehicle. On this occasion, Chairman CDA and Chief Commissioner of Islamabad, Muhammad Ali Randhawa, appealed to the public to exercise extreme caution when using gas cylinders and appliances to avoid any such unfortunate incidents.
