Chairman CDA Orders Immediate Installation of Manhole Covers, Repair of Footpaths Across Federal Capital

ISLAMABAD: January 30, 2026: In line with the direction of Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Muhammad Ali Randhawa, an extensive campaign for the installation of manhole covers, repair of footpaths and restoration of kerb stones installed on roads has been launched in the Federal Capital, Islamabad. In this connection, Chairman CDA has also issued instructions to all relevant departments of CDA, MCI and ICT administration. A comprehensive and immediate practical campaign has been launched to ensure the safety of citizens, especially children and to provide facilities in the Federal Capital, Islamabad. Under this special campaign, all open gutters/manholes in urban and rural areas of the Capital City, Islamabad, will be covered with standard and safe covers. Chairman CDA and Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Muhammad Ali Randhawa, said that every manhole within the limits of the Federal Capital, Islamabad, whether under the jurisdiction of CDA, PTCL, WAPDA, SNGPL, or any other organization will be covered with a standard cover. He said that this special campaign will continue until all open manholes are covered, and no manhole will be neglected. He said that the safety of the citizens of the Federal Capital, Islamabad, is our top priority. On the instructions of Chairman CDA and Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Muhammad Ali Randhawa, the relevant teams of CDA, MCI and the district administration have been active in the field since yesterday. CDA administration said that if citizens see any open or unsafe manhole/gutter anywhere, they should inform the administration. Additionally, on the instructions of the Chairman CDA, the restoration of footpaths and the replacement of damaged kerb stones on the roads and footpaths of the Federal Capital, Islamabad, are also underway. To improve the convenience of the citizens and enhance the beauty of the City, the repair of damaged and broken footpaths in old Sectors and Markazs has been swiftly initiated. Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa said that the relevant teams of CDA, MCI and the district administration should ensure their presence in the field to address citizens' issues and provide the best services to the citizens. He further said that these measures will not only ensure the safety of the citizens but will also help in maintaining the beautiful and organized environment of the City.
