ISLAMABAD: October 21, 2025: Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Chief Commissioner Islamabad Muhammad Ali Randhawa visited the CDA Model Nursery located on Park Road on Tuesday, accompanied by Member Environment Esfandyar Baloch, Member Engineering Syed Nafasat Raza, DG Environment, and other relevant officers. During the visit, the Chairman inspected various sections of the Model Nursery. On this occasion, Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa was given a detailed briefing regarding the upgradation, restoration, and transformation of the CDA Model Nursery into the “Gardenia Hub.” He was informed that the transformation work has been completed and that the newly developed Gardenia Hub now spans over 50 acres of land. During the briefing, it was apprised that Islamabad’s Gardenia Hub will be among the largest nurseries in Asia, housing over one million plants cultivated at the facility. The Chairman was further informed that approximately 25 state-of-the-art, controlled-ventilated greenhouses have been constructed, providing an ideal environment for plant growth, research, and innovation. The nursery will maintain a large stock of plants to meet Islamabad’s future needs for beautification, tree plantation, and forest conservation. The facility will also feature flower shops for public convenience and a dedicated area for colorful floral displays. Additionally, a special mobile application is being developed to allow citizens to purchase plants directly, while a training and research center is being established to promote modern propagation techniques and the development of new plant varieties. Speaking on the occasion, Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa said that the Model Nursery has been developed as a state-of-the-art facility meeting international standards. He added that CDA Environment Wing employees will receive specialized training for plant care and protection. He emphasized that the primary objective of upgrading the CDA Nursery is to establish Islamabad as a leading center for horticulture. The transformation of the Model Nursery into Gardenia Hub, he noted, is a significant step toward making Islamabad greener, more vibrant, and more beautiful.
