Chairman CDA Inaugurates Spring Tree Plantation Campaign 2026

ISLAMABAD: February 4, 2026: CDA Environment Wing has officially launched the Spring Tree Plantation Campaign 2026 to further beautify and enhance the greenery of the Federal Capital, Islamabad. Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Muhammad Ali Randhawa, inaugurated the Spring Tree Plantation Campaign on Wednesday by planting a tree at the Tayyip Erdagan Interchange, F-8. The plantation campaign was attended by Member Administration Talat Mahmood, Member Environment Esfandyar Baloch, DG Environment along with a large number of school childrens. Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa said that this year's tree plantation campaign will ensure the full participation of civil society, media, educational institutions, private sectors and the general public. He said that in line with the direction of Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif and Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, the maximum number of environmentally friendly trees will be planted under this year's campaign. Chairman CDA announced that the target for this year's plantation campaign is to plant 1 million various environmentally friendly trees in the Capital City, Islamabad. Chairman CDA emphasized that their goal is not only to plant trees but also to ensure their proper care and protection. To this end, the plantation campaign will utilize advanced satellite imagery from SUPARCO and other advanced technologies. A system has also been established to record details of the planted trees on QR codes and enable their regular tracking. He mentioned that QR codes will facilitate easy access to details of planted trees regarding the age, growth and other relevant data. Initially, QR codes are being installed on trees along the main highways of the Federal Capital, Islamabad. Similarly, older trees will also be linked to this modern technology. Chairman CDA added that for this year's tree plantation campaign, the expertise of environmental specialist Rizwan Mehboob has been specially invited. He said that under the Spring Tree Plantation Campaign, indegnious, fruit-bearing and shade-providing trees will be planted. Chairman CDA urged that to make the tree plantation campaign a success, everyone must collectively play their full part. He highlighted that the objective of this campaign is to increase the green cover of Islamabad city, ensure the protection of its environment and for this purpose along with the authorities, all citizens must also contribute actively. Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa further mentioned that under this special plantation campaign stalls will be set up at various locations across the city to distribute environmentally friendly plants among citizens. He appealed that if anyone is found cutting a tree the relevant authorities should be immediately informed via the helpline. He concluded by stating that the aim of these measures is to make the Federal Capital, Islamabad, more lush green and increase its green cover so that it can maintain its status among the world's most beautiful Cities.
