ISLAMABAD: 4th March, 2026: A review meeting regarding development projects in the Federal Capital, Islamabad, was held on Wednesday at CDA Headquarters under the chairmanship of Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Muhammad Ali Randhawa. The meeting was attended by CDA Member Administration and Estate Talat Mehmood, Member Engineering Syed Nafasat Raza, Member Finance Tahir Naeem Member Planning & Design, Dr. Khalid Hafiz along with relevant Director Generals, Project Directors and other senior officers. The meeting reviewed the planning and progress so far of various infrastructure development projects in the Federal Capital, Islamabad. During the meeting, while briefing regarding the construction of the Kashmir Chowk Underpass project in the Federal Capital, Islamabad, it was informed that the tendering process for the Kashmir Chowk Underpass project will be completed soon. In this connection, it was informed that the process of appointing consultants for the project is going on and will be completed soon. Chairman CDA and Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Muhammad Ali Randhawa, directed to ensure the implementation of all timelines regarding the Kashmir Chowk Underpass project. The meeting reviewed the project for the extension of Margalla Avenue from N-5 to M-1 within ICT limits. The meeting was informed that the tendering process for this project is being finalized. In this regard, the work award will be issued shortly and the groundbreaking of this project will be held soon. The meeting was further informed that under this project, one loop and two underpasses will also be constructed. Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa directed that both high quality of work and speed be ensured in this project. Detailed discussions were also held during the meeting on the project to widen Attaturk Avenue road. Chairman CDA said that beautiful lights and digital boards should be installed on a permanent basis on Attaturk Avenue. Similarly, horticulture and landscaping should also be carried out. Chairman CDA also directed the construction of a cycle track on Attaturk Avenue. Chairman CDA and Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Muhammad Ali Randhawa, directed that Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) be made mandatory for all development projects. Regarding the construction of the Model Graveyard Pandorian, the meeting was informed that the design of this project has been finalized. While briefing, the meeting was told that this project includes a boundary wall, spacious parking area, office, ablution area, funeral hall, mosque and electric hearses. The meeting was informed that work will be done on the expansion of the access road from Lehtrar Road to the model graveyard. Chairman CDA and Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Muhammad Ali Randhawa, directed that the main road inside the graveyard be further widened and access to the Model Graveyard Pandorian from Park Road along with Lehtrar Road, also be ensured. Chairman CDA also directed the construction of alternative parking at the Pandorian Model Graveyard. During the meeting, while briefing regarding the Islamabad Expressway Service Road East, it was informed that the length of this road will be approximately 9.5 kilometers and the process of appointing a consultant for this project has also been initiated. Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa directed the submission of timelines for the early start of construction work on all projects. He said that any kind of delay in this regard will not be tolerated. Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa gave clear instructions that along with the timely completion of all development projects, high standards and quality must be kept in consideration in every case. He said that the development of the infrastructure of the Federal Capital, Islamabad and the provision of best facilities to the citizens are our top priorities. He further added that all resources are being utilized in this regard.
