CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa Meets IFC Delegation to Review PPP-Based Water and Sewerage Projects

Date: Feb 10, 2026

Islamabad: 9th February, 2026: Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Chief Commissioner Islamabad Muhammad Ali Randhawa held a meeting on Monday at CDA Headquarters with a delegation of the International Finance Corporation (IFC) a subsidiary of the World Bank Group. The meeting was attended by Dr. Khalid Hafeez Member Planning & Design, Tahir Naeem Member Finance, the DG Islamabad Water and other senior officers. Discussions focused on newly initiated projects under the agreement between CDA and IFC. Under the agreement, IFC will provide technical assistance to the Islamabad Water Agency for various projects being undertaken through Public–Private Partnership arrangements. In this regard, IFC will offer its transaction advisory services for multiple water- and sewerage-related projects in Islamabad. In-principle approval to execute these projects under Public–Private Partnership has already been granted by the CDA Board. It is pertinent to mention that completion of these projects will help address issues related to the water supply and sewerage system in the federal capital. Improved provision of clean drinking water, installation of water meters and reduction of non-revenue water are key components of these projects. Additionally, measures to make water pumps energy-efficient, along with repair and rehabilitation of sewerage lines including sewerage treatment plants, are also part of the initiatives. Completion of these projects is expected to lead to a significant increase in CDA's revenue, which will be utilized to further improve water supply services in Islamabad. Implementing these projects under the PPP model will also enhance monitoring of water resources and help curb water wastage. Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa emphasized ensuring adherence to the project timelines so that all initiatives are completed in a timely manner. He stated that all available resources would be utilized to provide citizens of the federal capital with clean drinking water and high-quality sewerage services. During the meeting, the resolve was reaffirmed to fully benefit from the technical expertise, experience and cooperation of the International Finance Corporation (IFC).
