CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa, Directs Completion of 10th and 11th Avenues, Reviews Major Road Projects

ISLAMABAD: February 5, 2026: Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Muhammad Ali Randhawa, presided over a meeting at the CDA headquarters on Thursday. The meeting focused on the ongoing and future development projects in the Federal Capital, Islamabad. The meeting was attended by CDA's Member Engineering Syed Nafasat Raza, Member Planning and Design Dr. Khalid Hafiz, DG Design, DG Infrastructure, other officers and relevant project directors. The meeting reviewed the planning for future projects and the progress of ongoing projects. Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa said that connecting all major highways of Islamabad under the Master Plan will improve traffic flow. He said that planning should be done to construct the missing links that connect all major highways. Chairman CDA said that planning for better traffic management on the relevant highways is necessary as Ring Road would be functional and the Margalla Avenue will be connected with the motorway. The meeting discussed the construction of the Eleventh Avenue. Similarly, the meeting also discussed completing the construction work on the 10th Avenue. The meeting was informed that the construction of both roads will facilitate traffic entering the city from Margalla Avenue, Srinagar Highway and other adjacent highways. Chairman CDA directed that in time Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA's) for all future projects be ensured. He said that all obstacles in the construction of the 10th and 11th Avenues should be removed and a construction plan should be devised to meet future traffic needs. Chairman CDA said that tree plantation should be avoided in areas designated for highways and other future projects in the Master Plan. While carrying out tree plantation, locations should be chosen that will permanently contribute to the city's greenery. The meeting reviewed the progress on the Islamabad Convention, Exhibition and Expo Center project. Furthermore, the meeting discussed the plan to resolve traffic issues at Kashmir Chowk. Additionally, the meeting reviewed the ongoing work on the project to connect Margalla Avenue with the M-1 Motorway. Similarly, the meeting reviewed matters related to the construction of a luxury hotel in the Federal Capital, Islamabad. Chairman CDA and Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Muhammad Ali Randhawa, directed that all developmental projects be completed within their timelines while ensuring high quality in all aspects.
