ISLAMABAD: November 20, 2025: The 78th meeting of the Development Working Party (CDA-DWP) was held on Thursday under the chairmanship of Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Muhammad Ali Randhawa. The meeting was attended by senior officers from the Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Division, Ministry of Interior, Finance Division, members of the CDA Board, as well as representatives from relevant formations and project consultants. According to details, several important development projects for the Capital City were approved during the meeting. The PC-I for the construction of the New Islamabad Convention, Expo and Exhibition Centre (NICEEC), costing Rs. 19.371 billion, received approval. The forum was informed that the facility will serve as a multifunctional centre capable of hosting national and international conventions, exhibitions, and cultural events. The centre is expected to strengthen Islamabad's position as a hub for commerce, innovation, and cultural exchange. It was also noted that the SCO Summit 2027 will be hosted at this venue. The project’s completion timeline has been set at 18 months. Additionally, the construction of six steel pedestrian bridges at various locations in Islamabad was approved at a cost of Rs. 574.682 million. These bridges will help reduce accidents, ease traffic congestion, and provide safer crossing facilities for schoolchildren, the elderly, and persons with disabilities. This project also carries an 18-month completion timeframe. Projects aimed at enhancing and promoting sports activities in the city were also discussed during the meeting. Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa said that these projects hold significant importance for the development of the Federal Capital and the improvement of civic facilities for residents. He directed that effective measures be taken to complete all approved projects within their stipulated timelines and emphasized that no compromise on quality will be tolerated. He further stated that all available resources will be utilized to make Islamabad one of the best capitals in the world, ensuring the provision of top-quality services and facilities to its citizens.
