Sanitation workers and other staff of CDA remained on duties during Eid-ul-Fitr holidays

Islamabad, July 21, 2015: More than 2000 sanitary workers of Sanitation Directorate and other concerned formations of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) remain on duty during the holidays of Eid-ul-Fitr in the Federal Capital. These workers and supervisory staff performed their duties in efficient manner in three shifts and kept the city in neat and tidy condition.

In line with the directions of Chairman CDA, Maroof Afzal, workers and supervisory staff of Sanitation and other concerned formations of the Authority was deployed in the city during the Eid-ul-Fitr to ensure the availability of basic civic amenities to the public.

Member Administration and Estate, Amer Ali Ahmed also reviewed the progress about the facilities provided by the different formations of the Authority and deployed staff during the Eid-ul-Fitr. Member Administration and Estate, Amer Ali Ahmed said that cleanliness of Eid Gahs, entertainment and recreational spots and parks in the Federal Capital was ensured, adding that the cleanliness task was met in an efficient manner during the Eid holidays. The Federal Capital was kept in neat and tidy condition, he added. Amer Ali Ahmed said that security was beefed up and maximum security personals have been deployed as a large number of public from Islamabad and surrounding areas was expected to throng to the all recreational and entertainment spots including Daman-e-Koh, Lakeview Park and Marghzar Zoo. Member Administration and Estate, Amer Ali Ahmed said that all parks and recreational spots were packed with the public, adding that we have beefed up the security in collaboration with ICT Administration to avoid any untoward incident. He said that CDA also enhanced the number of sanitary workers to ensure maximum hygienic conditions in these parks and recreational areas.

Member Administration and Estate, Amer Ali Ahmed said that on the directions of Chairman CDA, Maroof Afzal, uninterrupted water supply was ensured to all the residential areas of the city. To cope with any emergency water tanker service was also made functional round the clock to meet any water deficiency, he added.

Member Administration and Estate, Amer Ali Ahmed said that Flood Relief Cell in the Fire Headquarters of CDA was remained functional round the clock during the Eid holidays, adding that rescuers of Flood Relief Cell have addressed many complaints from the citizens. He said that Fire Brigade of CDA has also responded to many calls from different areas including fire incidents at a bakery, hostel and two houses and save them from any major loss. Two calls have been responded by the Flood Relief Cell of CDA due to heavy rains in the city, where accumulated water was drained through water pumps, he added. To improve the water drainage due to heavy rains, Member Administration and Estate, Amer Ali Ahmed said that City Sewerage Division of CDA also remained on high alert round the clock, adding that accumulated rain water was drained through water pumps from various spots for smooth flow of traffic.

Member Administration and Estate, Amer Ali Ahmed said that 34 different complaints have been responded promptly by the complaint cell, established at Sanitation Directorate. He said that the officers, supervisory staff and rescue workers of Flood Relief Cell and other concerned formations of the Authority performed their duties round the clock in three shifts. He added that doctors and paramedic staff of Capital Hospital also performed their duties at the emergency cell during the Eid-ul-Fitr. While on the directions of Chairman CDA, Maroof Afzal, special anti-encroachment teams ensured effective monitoring of the city and kept the city clear from encroachment, Member Administration and Estate added. He informed that in line with the directions of Chairman CDA, Maroof Afzal, special awareness drive against encroachments and illegal katchi abadis has been launched, adding that during the drive, awareness banners have been displayed and announcements have been made in Masajid against these encroachments and illegal katchi abadis.

Member Administration and Estate, Amer Ali Ahmed said that special teams for anti-dengue supervised by the Health Inspector have been constituted by the Directorate of Health Services, adding that these teams have been dispatched to different areas including residential sectors and commercial areas for anti-dengue fogging and spray during holidays. He said that CDA has warned through press media the residents living adjacent the nullahs for precautionary and preventive measures during the floods due to expected heavy monsoon rains and also those owners of houses for removal of illegal sewerage lines who have connected with nullahs.        

Chairman CDA, Maroof Afzal has lauded the efforts of all those CDA officers and officials who have set aside their Eid festivities and remained on duty for provision of best civic amenities to the public during the Eid-ul-Fitr. Chairman CDA said that provision of quality civic facilities to the residents of the Federal Capital is our priority, adding that CDA has always serve the public with zeal and enthusiasm and played its pivotal role in the development of the city.

To cope with the floods during the ongoing monsoon rains, Chairman CDA, Maroof Afzal has directed the Member Administration and Estate, Amer Ali Ahmed for provision of more facilities to further improve the functions of Flood Relief Cell. He asked for a constant liaison with the Meteorological department for weather updates for provision of timely precautionary and protective measures in the Federal Capital.
