Three day Spring Flowers and Birds Show opens at Rose & Jasmine Garden

Chairman CDA syed Tahir Shahbaz inaugurating 31st Spring Flower and Bird Show in Islamabad

Islamabad, April 05, 2013: The 31st Annual Spring Flowers and Birds Show – 2013 opens at Rose & Jasmine Garden here today. Capital Development Authority (CDA) in collaboration with Islamabad Horticultural Society (IHS) organized the three day show.

Chairman CDA, Syed Tahir Shahbaz has inaugurated the Spring Flowers and Birds Show – 2013. On this occasion Member Planning and Design, Syed Mustafain Kazmi, Member Administration Munir Ahmed Chaudhary, Member Engineering Sanaullah Amman , officers of the Environment Wing CDA, representatives of Islamabad Horticulture Society and participants of the exhibition were also present.

Speaking on the occasion, Chairman CDA, Syed Tahir Shahbaz said that flowers are the part and parcel of our life as they add beauty and fragrance to our gardens, our homes as well our lives. He said that apart from beautification, flowers and roses are great source of recreation and entertainment for the residents and such exhibitions encourage people for plantation of flowers at their homes. Chairman CDA said that this flowers and birds show would help promoting the soft image of our country in the world as many foreign diplomats would also visit this exhibition.  

Spring Flowers and Bird show would continue for three days and prizes would be distributed among the winners. Many government, semi-government and private organizations and individuals are participating in the flowers and birds show.

A large variety of flowers and various species of birds are being exhibited in the show. The organizations participating in this show are Capital Development Authority, Islamabad Club, Pakistan Air Force Hospital, Combined Military Hospital, Allama Iqbal Open University, and Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission and others. While talking to the visitors/participants the Chairman CDA, Syed Tahir Shahbaz said that CDA has allocated sufficient funds for the beautification and maintenance of parks and also has already issued tenders for the installation of eight cybernetic fountains in different sectors of the federal capital. He further said that fabricated Dinosaurs which have been remained uninstalled are going to be installed at Marghzar Zoo. He said that concerned formations have been directed to repair and revive the tourist train in order to provide best recreation facilities to the residents. Chairman CDA said that this year we have expanded this show by adding different varieties of flowers and species of birds being exhibited in the flowers and birds show and he assured to expand it further in the coming years by including other varieties of flowers and species of birds in this annual event. He said that CDA is endeavouring to plant environment friendly new indigenous varieties of flowers and trees on the highways, roads, bridges and green area.
