Water Supply Wing possesses a fleet of 34 water tankers

Islamabad, December 26, 2017: Mayor of Islamabad and Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA), Sheikh Anser Aziz has said that special funds have been released to Water Supply Wing to ensure sufficient supply of water to the residents of the Federal Capital during the upcoming summer season. Presently, water related complaints from the residents of the city are being addressed through 17 water tankers; however, increase in the demand of water during the summer season, funds have been released for necessary repair and maintenance work on 10 water tankers, which includes repair and maintenance of water pipes and replacement of tyres etc. 3600 feet of water pipe has been purchased for water tankers; while the new water pipes have been installed in 28 water tankers. 

Mayor of Islamabad and Chairman CDA, Sheikh Anser Aziz said that Water Supply Wing possesses a fleet of 34 water tankers. He said that MCI is utilizing its own resources to carry out repair and maintenance work of the water tankers from Machinery Pool Organization (MPO), MCI, adding that water demands of the residents are being met with the help of 17 water tankers. He said that rest of the water tankers would be functions after necessary repair and maintenance work from MPO Directorate. Mayor of Islamabad and Chairman CDA, Sheikh Anser Aziz said that main water supply line of 36 inches has been repaired due to wastage of water at Quaid-e-Azam University point. Similarly, 10 inches of water supply pipeline has also been repaired to resolve the longstanding problem of the residents of Sector G-10.  

Mayor of Islamabad and Chairman CDA, Sheikh Anser Aziz said that water storage has not been increased in Simly Dam due to less rains, therefore, he directed the concerned formation to utilize the existing water storage with better management and take stern action against the illegal water connection. He said that Water Supply Wing has issued directions to Enforcement Directorate and Building Control Section for action against 25 illegally service stations operating located in different sectors of the city including Sector G-9, G-8, G-7, I-10, G-10 and I-9. These illegal service stations are using the portable water for vehicle services. Mayor of Islamabad and Chairman CDA, Sheikh Anser Aziz said that these service stations have been served with notices several time, adding that it is the time to take action against these illegal service stations. Due to decrease in the storage of water for the residents, action against the illegal service stations is being carried out to help improve the water storage.  

Mayor of Islamabad and Chairman CDA, Sheikh Anser Aziz said that total water storage capacity of Simly Dam is 2315 feet but the existing water level is 2285 due to less rains. 24 million gallon of water is being supplied to the residents of Islamabad from Simly Dam on daily basis, while 24 million gallon of water is being provided from tube wells and other resources on daily basis. He said that the existing water storage would be utilized through better strategy and management till the monsoon rain spells. Mayor of Islamabad and Chairman CDA, Sheikh Anser Aziz has requested the residents of the Federal Capital take precautionary measure for using water and do not waste water. He has also warned for stern action illegal water connection.
