Central Engineering Laboratory is the back bone of Engineering Wing of the Authority: Mayor Islamabad

Islamabad: November 29, 2017: To upgrade techniques in the development projects of Islamabad in line with modern quality standards, the Central Engineering Laboratory of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) would be equipped with latest technology devices and testing machines in order to ensure the quality work and up-gradation in the development of these projects.   

 Mayor of Islamabad and Chairman CDA, Sheikh Anser Aziz expressed these views during a meeting here at CDA Headquarters while reviewing the performance of the Central Engineering Laboratory and further up-gradation plan of the laboratory. On this occasion, Member Engineering, Asad Mehboob Kiyani and concerned officers of Engineering Wing were also present.

 Mayor of Islamabad and Chairman CDA, Sheikh Anser Aziz said that Central Engineering Laboratory is the back bone of Engineering Wing of the Authority, adding that if construction material is of good quality and high standard; the standard of construction projects would be more durable. He further added that Central Engineering Laboratory has its pivotal role in road infrastructure and development projects of Islamabad, therefore, up-gradation of the laboratory and provision of latest equipments and testing machines is the dire need of the hour.

Mayor of Islamabad and Chairman CDA, Sheikh Anser Aziz said that development and construction activities gained momentum during the ongoing financial year so it is necessary that the Central Engineering Laboratory should also accelerate the pace of work with quality and standard. He said that it is our prime responsibility to develop Islamabad in line with modern techniques.

During the meeting Mayor of Islamabad and Chairman, CDA, Sheikh Anser Aziz was briefed that 794 cases were processed regarding different tests. Material Quality Control Division processed 138 cases in Soil Section which are construction of development D-12 (Design of Nullah, sewerage, crossing from main hole 34-35), soil testing at River Korang near Poona Faqeeran Filtration plant and construction of retaining wall of plot in sector G-11/3.

The Meeting was also apprised that Concrete Section also processed the 172 cases regarding Rehabilitation of Service Road (West), G-11, Construction of Additional rooms in IMSB Khana Dale Scheme, Dualization of Service Road (North) and (East) of Sector E-11, construction of Imam and moazan quarter for masjid imam at rawal town, dualization of Atta Turk (West) Road and Embassy road from khayaban-e-Suharwardy to Khayaban-e-Margalla (Ayub Chawk) and Improvement / up-gradation of signalize intersection on Muree Road.

The meeting was apprised that Bitumen Section of Directorate of MQC, C.E.Lab processed 228 cases regarding TST / Development of VRs in sector I-11/1, TST / Development of Markaz in Sector D-12 construction of parking area, drainage, sewerage and water supply system, construction of carriage way from roundabout of Service Road (West) G-10/2 to F-10 and Dualization of Service Road (East & North) of sector E-11 to sector D-12.

The meeting was apprised that Pavement Design and Road Quality Division of Directorate of MQC, C.E.Lab process 196 cases regarding rehabilitation of service road west in G-11, Development of Markaz in Sector D-12, Development of VRs in Sector I-11/1, Rehabilitation of Road No.06 from Nafees college to Farash Town, Rehabilitation of Road in Industrial Triangle Kahuta and construction of Model Bazar at Pinwal Road Chakwal.
