“Clean and Green Islamabad” campaign launched in G series sectors

Islamabad, November 14, 2017: Islamabad is first city of Pakistan to have signed the United Nation Green Charter Programme. Under the Green Charter, we would be able to deliver a lush green and environment friendly city to the next generations. Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) is committed to implement the Green Charter Programme of the United Nation with the cooperation of the residents to make the city more beautiful, lush green and environment friendly.

 

Mayor of Islamabad and Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA), Sheikh Anser Aziz expressed these views during the ceremony held here at Markaz G-8 in connection with the “Clean and Green Islamabad” campaign. On this occasion, officers of concerned formations of MCI and CDA, Chairmen Union Councils, Raja Waheed-ul-Hassan, Chaudhry Munir Ashraf, other elected representatives, children of different schools, representatives of traders unions and a large number of residents were also present.

 

Addressing the participants, Mayor of Islamabad and Chairman CDA, Sheikh Anser Aziz said that it has been a common practice in the past that civic facilities have only been provided to the posh sectors of the city, while low income residents have been ignored. He added that this time we have launched the “Clean and Green Islamabad” campaign from the oldest Sector G-6 of Islamabad. He said that cleanliness drive has been completed in Sector G-6 and G-7, adding that now cleanliness drive has entered into Sector G-8. He said that during this cleanliness drive, three days would be given to each sector of Islamabad. All officers of concerned formations would remain present in the camp office. These officers would address the complaints of the resident related to civic amenities including sanitation, street lights, parks and playgrounds, water supply etc; while the complaints would be addressed on the spot. During the ongoing cleanliness drive, residential areas in Sector G-8 and Markaz G-8 would be cleaned completely. He directed the officers of concerned formations to ensure effective monitoring of the civic services completed in the sectors.

Mayor of Islamabad and Chairman CDA, Sheikh Anser Aziz directed the officers of Enforcement Directorate to remove all kinds of encroachments from Markaz G-8 and ensure the presence of concerned officers and staff in the camp office.

Mayor of Islamabad and Chairman CDA, Sheikh Anser Aziz along with the officers of MCI and CDA, school children and citizens participated in the cleanliness awareness walk. On this occasion, Mayor of Islamabad and Chairman CDA, Sheikh Anser Aziz also inspected the ongoing drive and appreciated the performance of staff. He said that every citizen of the city should participate in the “Clean and Green Islamabad” campaign.
