A Meeting regarding Health City Programme held at CDA Headquarters

Islamabad: October 19, 2017: Healthy City Programme will play pivotal role to provide the citizen of Islamabad a healthy and friendly atmosphere in the city and it is proud for us that the World Health Organization has included the city of Islamabad in the healthy city programme. Therefore the implementation of this programme will reflect its importance and benefits which the Metropolitan Corporation of Islamabad (MCI) will play a vital role.

These views expressed by the Mayor of Islamabad and Chairman, CDA, Sheikh Anser Aziz in a high level meeting held at CDA Headquarters here on Thursday. The meeting was attended by the Member Planning and Design / Chief Officer, MCI, Asad Mehboob Kiyani, D.G Health Services, DG Environment and Deputy Mayor of MCI, Ch: Rifat Javed and representatives of other formations.  

Mayor of Islamabad and Chairman, CDA, Sheikh Anser Aziz constituted a high level committee for successful completion of Healthy City Programme which will be directly supervise by him. Other Member of the Committee include DG Health Services, DG Civic Management, DG Environment, DG Water Supply, D.G Federal Education,  Director Municipal Administration, Director Urban Planning, Director Enforcement, and representative of Islamabad Police. The committee will frame the initial lay out plan and its implementation etc. Mayor of Islamabad nominated DG Health Services Dr. Hasan Urooj from MCI and Dr. Muhammad Aasi from WHO as focal persons so that they may coordinate with the concerned departments for the better results of this programme.

Mayor of Islamabad and Chairman, CDA, Sheikh Anser Aziz said that the provision of health atmosphere and neat and clean food and water for the citizen of Islamabad is responsibility of MCI which will be further strengthen by this programme. He further stated that MCI is committed to provide the citizen of Islamabad the facilities of State of the Art, therefore, by this programme provided by WHO in Islamabad will further improve the health facilities because it includes all members of the community.

Earlier Dr. Muhammad Aasi representative of WHO has briefed the meeting about the programme that Healthy City Programme is especially launched for the citizen which are deprived of basic facilities and it has been ensured the participation of the all stakeholders. He said that basic aim of this programme is to improve public health and facilitate the people for provision of basic needs.
