Trade unions should join hands with CDA and MCI in anti-encroachment drive: Chairman CDA

Islamabad: September 24, 2017: Anti-encroachment drive of Capital Development Authority (CDA) is on full swing. 96 Anti Encroachment Operations against illegal constructions and encroachments are being conducted all over the city during the first fifteen days of the month of September, 2017. During these operations Enforcement Staff demolished 11 illegal construction rooms, 13 illegal boundary walls, 40 Juggis while numerous food and vegetable stalls, many barber setups, several building material / wood / scrape depots, road side encroachments and moveable / immovable encroachments were also removed during this period. 02 vehicles were also confiscated for unauthorized selling of different goods. During these operations 1,753 number of encroachment items were also confiscated and shifted to store located at F-9 Park.


This was informed during the meeting held at CDA Headquarters which was chaired by Mayor of Islamabad and Chairman CDA, Sheikh Anser Aziz. The meeting reviewed the progress of Anti Encroachment Drive of Enforcement Directorate during the first fifteen day of the month of September. On this occasion, senior officers of Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) and CDA were also present.


Mayor of Islamabad and Chairman CDA Sheikh Anser directed the Director Enforcement to further expand the scope of Anti Encroachment Drive all over the city. He further directed the Director Enforcement to take action against all types of encroachments. He further emphasized on coordinated and collaborated efforts for complete eradication encroachments from the city. He asked the business community particularly traders union to join hands with CDA and MCI in anti-encroachment drive. He said that all out efforts would be made to restore natural grace of the city. Anti-encroachment drive will remain continue till complete elimination of encroachments from the city.


Director Enforcement apprised Mayor of Islamabad and Chairman, CDA, Sheikh Anser Aziz during the above said period many gigantic operations was conducted in different areas of the city including Expressway, G-6 and F-12.  This operation was conducted in collaboration of BCS and other concerned formations. Staff removed various types of encroachments from the vicinity of Khanna Bridge and confiscated 13 articles therefore 02 Juggies structures were demolished in Sector F-12.


Mayor of Islamabad and Chairman, CDA, Sheikh Anser Aziz further apprised that during the first fifteen days of September, 30 jugies were also razed and 13 boundary walls were demolished at different areas of the city including sector G-7, F-12, I-8, Jhangi Syedan sitara mills, chatta Bukhtawar, Faisal Mosque Area, Faisal Avenue, Model Town Humak, Muree Road, Bari Imam, G.T Road, G-10, H-9, Margalla town, Model Village Saidpur and other areas of the city.


In order to ensure strict monitoring teams of Enforcement Directorate have also been deputed in evening shift to discourage the encroachments. These teams conducted operations in sectors G-6, F-6, F-7, Margalla Road and other different parts of the city.


The meeting was further informed that Enforcement Directorate also took part in a drive initiated by the Authority on the directions of Islamabad High Court. In this connection operations were conducted with the collaboration of Emergency of Disaster Management, Water Supply Directorate, SNGPL and WAPDA in the sector I-8. During this operation water pumps from 116 house / government accommodations were disconnected and 04 water suction pumps were confiscated.


The Mayor of Islamabad and Chairman CDA Sheikh Anser Aziz expressed his satisfaction over the performance of Enforcement Directorate. He directed the enforcement directorate to accelerate the pace of anti-encroachment drive.
