Campaign against illegal water pumps, motors and electric / gas connection in Islamabad

Islamabad: July 26, 2017: Member Administration, Capital Development Authority (CDA), Muhammad Yasir Peerzada chaired the first meeting of the committee constituted by honourable Justice Shaukat Aziz Sidiqqui of Islamabad High Court for removal of illegal installation and connection on water supply lines by the allottees of Government Accommodations. The meeting held on Wednesday at CDA headquarter was attended by Member Engineering, Asad Mehboob Kiyani, Member Estate Khoshhall Khan, Engineer Shahzad Ahmed, XEN of WAPDA, General Manager, SNGPl, Naseer Feroze, representatives of Islamabad Police / Estate Office and senior officers of relevant formations of CDA and MCI.

Member Administration, CDA, Muhammad Yasir Peerzada said that directions of honourable Islamabad High Court would be implemented with true letter and spirit and comprehensive drive and task given by the honourable court would be completed within given time line. He said that cooperation and facilitation from all stakeholders would be a vital element in the success of the drive.

Member Administration, informed the participants that before starting the operation against the violators, public would be warned through public notices for voluntarily removal of illegal installations within seven (07) days after publishing of the advertisement. After the expiry of the deadline gigantic operation would be conducted all around the city. It has been further decided that announcements would be also made on the laud speakers of the mosques in different areas of operation in addition to the distribution of pamphlets and installation of awareness banners in the area. Moreover, WAPDA, SNGPL, Islamabad Police and Estate Office would nominate focal person at the earliest.

During the meeting, Estate Officer informed that encroachments and installations are mostly noticed in the government accommodations of the sectors of G series. The participants agreed to initiate the operation from F & G type accommodations located in G sectors in first phase. In order to make this operation success a team comprising upon Additional Director E&DM, Assistant Director Water Supply, Senior Special Magistrate, Assistant Director Maintenance, Assistant Director Enforcement, Joint Estate Officer, representatives of Islamabad Police, SNGPL and WAPDA.

It is pertinent to mention here that residents of different government accommodations in the different areas of capital city have illegally installed motors / pumps on the main water supply lines and other citizens have to face water shortage. Honourable Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddique of Islamabad High Court in an order passed on a Petition No.2507/2017 on dated 21.07.2017 directed the CDA to take strict action and remove all such installations with immediate effect.
