Operation against encroachments in Barri Imam and Loi Dhandi area

Islamabad, January 6, 2017: On the directions of Mayor of Islamabad and Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA), Sheikh Anser Aziz, Enforcement Directorate took prompt action against the encroachments in the Federal Capital. Today, despite the heavy rain, staff of the Enforcement Directorate rushed to different areas of Barri Imam during the campaign against the encroachments and demolished the structures illegally built on CDA’s land in Loi Dhandi area. The operation against encroachments is being conducted without fear and favour.

In another operation against encroachment in the area of Mohalla Shah Medan, Barri Imam, two kanal of land has been retrieved from the illegal occupant, while structure built on the land has been bulldozed. Similarly, Enforcement Directorate took action against a shop built illegally on CDA land in Mohalla Ispaal, Barri Imam and leveled it to the ground, while barbed wires fixed around CDA’s land has also been removed by the Enforcement’s staff. A concrete boundary wall has been bulldozed in Muslim Colony of Barri Imam.

During the ongoing operation against the encroachments, the staff of Enforcement Directorate taken action against fruit vendor, selling fruit on his Suzuki van near Sohan stop on Express Highway and confiscated his van and other goods. Encroachments in Lok Virsa area, which is a prominent spot for the public have been removed and on laden truck of goods from the area has been confiscated. Staff of Enforcement Directorate also demolished an illegal Chappar Hotel and shadow tandoor constructed illegally along the leased out kiosks in the areas of Sector G-10/4, while two open air sand and stone crash depots have also been removed with the help of bulldozer. Another illegally constructed shadow tandoor of a leased out kiosk was demolished at greenbelt in front of street 20 of Sector F-11/2, while removed open air depots of sand, stone crash and shuttering from the greenbelt. Two more open air depots of sand and stone crush have been removed with the help of bulldozer from greenbelt of Sector F-12 area. During another operation at Margalla Chowk of Sector E-11, one illegal chappar hotel, fruit stall, shuttering depot, five building material depots have been removed with bulldozer and retrieved the greenbelt from illegal occupants.      

Mayor of Islamabad and Chairman CDA, Sheikh Anser Aziz directed the concerned formation to accelerate the pace of operation against encroachments without any discrimination for restoration of the natural beauty of the city. He said that operation against encroachments would continue at all cost.
